The Juror

Philip Koch is professor of painting and drawing at Maryland Institute, College of Art, where he has taught since 1973. Professor Koch holds a BA in Painting from Oberlin College in Ohio and an MFA from Indiana University, Bloomington. He has received ten residencies in the Edward Hopper Studio, Cape Cod. Koch has exhibited widely throughout the United States. Most recently, he exhibited "A Vision of Nature," a retrospective of his work, 1971-2004, at the University of Maryland, University College, 7 November 2004 - 9 January 2005. Koch's work is represented in numerous permanent collections, including The Butler Institute of American Art, Youngstown, Ohio; Swope Art Museum, Terre Haute, Indiana; and United Information Agency, Prague, Czech Republic.

Mr. Koch's comments for Dimensions 2005, made while judging the work for Dimensions 2005, were recorded by Brian Doub, LBJ Memorial Sound Studio, and were made available on Walkman[TM] headsets for those who wanted to hear the commentary while viewing the work.
