Membership with Associated Artists is open to any aspiring or practicing artist over the age of fifteen. Any artist, any medium, any style, and any level of artistic development. Creative novices exhibit side-by-side with practiced professionals, progressive ideas cavort with classical approaches, and every member finds an array of opportunities in which they may participate. For as little as $20 per year for a Student Membership*, you have opened the door to an array of opportunities for your work - from professional competitive shows to more intimate small group shows in restaurants or board rooms.

The AAWS Gallery is centered at the heart of downtown Winston-Salem and features eight themed exhibits each year. The exhibiting Members are sent a prospectus for each show approximately one month prior to submission dates. All members begin at the Associate Member level and may begin participating at once.

Community Exhibits allow members to participate in an extensive rotation of small group and solo show opportunities. The Gallery Gift Shop provides a sales space for smaller works. Once you are a member you will receive show prospectuses, notice of workshops and events, and be able to display your work at one of our 25 Community Exhibits locations.

All new members are Associate Members and may participate in all-member shows, the gift shop, and Community Exhibits. There is also a summer show for Associate Members.

Associate Members who are interested in professional accreditation and building their resumes may choose to apply for Juried Membership. Applications are accepted quarterly and reviewed by a panel of selected professionals. The AAWS Jury Panel reviews submitted materials and makes a recommendation to the Executive Director. Upon acceptance, Juried Members have two group shows each year including the popular "Up Close and Personal" show in January. In addition, Juried Members may participate in Associate member shows by entering work NOT in their Juried Medium.

Supporting Members are art lovers who want to be involved. Membership at this level may be tax-deductible, but we'd prefer you ask your CPA or personal accountant about that. We'll stick to art. Though an official letter acknowledging your gift will be mailed. Artist Members can support too, but only the amount over your regular membership category will count.

Joining at any level is simple. Simply fill out the application form and pay online (Click on Member Application on top left), or download the application (below) and mail it in. Better still - come by in person!  We love to put a face with the name...

*Student Memberships are open to any full-time high school or college student under the age of 25.
