Outside the studio, my painting world is intricate
and unpredictable. Other artists may encounter their
muses indoors or in a city or formal garden; for me,
the untamed world brings a variety of beings which,
when recognized, lead me to their stories.
Nature deserves respectful attention, but too slavish
an attempt may overwhelm the sublime. A member of the
scene as well as its observer, I balance between the
conscious and the unconscious as I paint.
