National Juried Exhibition of art exploring the diversity of cultures in our global village. Free Opening Reception featuring music by instructors of the Hispanic Arts Initiative,Daniel Diaz, percussion, and Sergio Amaury Guillen Castro, pianio . The exhibition is on view through November 20. Juror's Statement: "The Cultural Crossroads exhibition presents a diverse exciting selection of primarily recent works in painting, photography, drawing, sculpture, video stills, ceramics, mixed media collage, fibre and water color. Artists were encouraged to consider many aspects of the theme -from their own traditional historical and cultural perspectives. Cultural Crossroads entries evoke the contradictions, complexities and multiple perspectives that characterize the contemporary life and it's presentation in art. The works are vibrant, bold and thought provoking. The phrase "Cultural Crossroads" suggests a meeting point| transition|border|exchange|tension and identity. Many live and understand this due to our reenactments of personal memory and collective. Artists in this exhibition reflect this fascinating hybrid and other competing ideas about cultural crossroads and identity in a variety of the works submitted expressing curved lines of past and present. There are 80 works of art showing a variety of themes treated by the artists that share insights into traditions and contemporary art scenes in the region. I too stand at a cultural crossroads having curated Caribbean Crossroads Exhibitions for the past thirteen years. This intimacy with selecting the works was a sincere pleasure."
