One of my primary motivators for making art is a desire to produce images that invite expansion of perception in the mind of the viewer. I am intrigued by cultural progress and the steady stream of information, significant or otherwise, that has sparked, sustained, burdened, or entertained the mind of cultures through time. I feel that the content of my art partially derives its meaning from how humanity deals with the responsibility of its information.

The content of my work, the ideas that underlie it, and the layers of meaning within it come from flashes of intense, sometimes incidental, personal experiences, as they intermingle with cultural concepts—especially those having to do with ideas about information and communication. We are all caught up in a continually developing "personal mythology." For me, its cadences lend spiritual and historical significance to my art. Often use computer technology as a multi-medium idea-generating instrument, producing the equivalent of working drawings, which are incorporated in a collage process onto canvasses. I consider the result of this process to produce confrontational "gates": points of passage from the past to "now" to affect contemplation.
