An Encaustics Workshop with Pat Spainhour

On Wednesday afternoon, July 16th, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, join AAWS Juried Member Pat Spainhour for an afternoon painting with "encaustic" wax medium. In addition to having 30 years teaching experience, Pat has recently attended the National Encaustics Conference and has a great deal of enthusiasm for her new preferred art form! Each artist will be instructed in a variety of techniques with this amazing medium. All supplies are included. You will take home a small finished piece of artwork. Workshop is limited to 8 participants so sign up soon! The fee is $55 for AAWS members, $65 for nonmembers.

Irregularly Regular Activities

  • Group Painting at South Fork:
On Fridays from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM, a group of Associated Artists members meets to paint at the South Fork Recreation Center, 4403 Country Club Road. There is no instructor, just a great space and camaraderie. All artists are welcome to drop by and join in for inspiration, motivation, and companionship in creating. The space is made available through the Winston-Salem Recreations and Parks Department

  • Drawing Circles:
The Drawing Circle meets Saturdays from 10:00 AM until noon at the Sawtooth. This casual practice group is open to interested artists at all skill levels. Participants sit in a circle to draw someone else in the circle. Poses last about 20 minutes. No fee or sign up needed. Props and models are encouraged!

  • New Member Orientation:
New Member Orientation is an information session for any members (or potential members) who want to glean more knowledge of AAWS and our programs and services. Held twice each year, this program is packed with information from all of our committees, exhibition opportunities, board of directors, and staff. All members invited to attend this excellent opportunity to learn how to get the most from your AAWS membership. Juice, coffee, and light fare served. To sign up or for additonal information, contact the AAWS office.
