Mission
Associated
Artists of Winston-Salem (AAWS) is a non-profit fine arts organization
located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Founded in 1956, the organization
comprises artists and art supporters from throughout the United
States.
Associated Artists provides exhibition opportunities
for any visual artist. Each of the eight gallery
exhibits has a unique theme to encourage diverse
artistic participation and audience. Exhibits remain
on display for 5-6 weeks. There are two national
juried exhibits held each year. The other six shows
are for Associated Artists members only.
Most of the work on display in these shows is for sale.
All exhibitions are free and open to the public.
In exchange for volunteer time and/or donations,
artist members may also exhibit small items for sale
in the AAWS Gallery Shop.
Members also exhibit in community spaces and participate
in the organization's educational, social, and volunteer activities.
Volunteer opportunities provide an avenue for networking with fellow
artists and art appreciators. Internship opportunities are also available.
Along with
eight
shows presented each year, Associated Artists
also sponsors workshops, lectures, demonstrations, art-related trips,
and in-school programs.
Associated Artists is a funded member of
